The workshop will include theory of setting up a hive or two, starting with a nuc, catching a swarm, bee behaviour, bee diseases and pests and what to do about it, honey harvesting - the processes from finding a suitable site to placing a hive to extracting honey and a lot more.
Our workshop is also of interest to people who don’t necessarily want to keep bees but would simply like to know a little more about Honey Bees.
On the day you will learn how to assemble frames and boxes, how to wire a frame and insert foundation...and, weather permitting, you will have a chance to see inside a hive and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of bees.
This is an interesting time in the beeyard as we have nuc’s at different stages for you to see.
